SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP-AT-HOME,
Sunday, July 11, 2020
Worship-at-home service during the self-quarantine of COVID-19.
MESSAGE: GOD, WHERE WERE YOU
Series: Focusing on Jesus. The I AM Statements of Jesus.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” – John 11:25-26
There’s a story in the Bible where two adult sisters have a sick brother. One of the sisters runs to tell Jesus to come quickly to heal him. But Jesus doesn’t come right away. As a matter of fact he purposefully waits four more days after the brother passes away.
When Jesus finally arrives, one of the sisters exclaims to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here my brother would not have died.” (John 11:21) She essentially asks, “Where were you, God, in my family’s suffering?” Maybe you’ve felt the same way? You’ve asked God to intervene and He doesn’t or He delays. You know if He would’ve intervened He could’ve done something about it.
This Sunday we continue our “Focusing on Jesus” series with a message called “God, Where Were You?” I realize that is a big title and a huge topic. We’re going to look at the story of Jesus intervening and raising the brother from the dead.
Within that story Jesus gives two reasons why that family was going through suffering. There are important truths that can help our mindset and faith when going through suffering.
UPDATE. PLEASE NOTE:
Sunday, July 19th, worship service in the park postponed. To be rescheduled for a Sunday in August.
If you watched the sermon message below (from July 12th) I announced we would be having church at Westgate Park this coming Sunday, July 19th. However, since Governor Mike DeWine’s address yesterday evening (July 15) calling all Ohioans to continue to wear masks and practice safety as the number of COVID cases increases I’ve decided to wait a few more weeks to have our service in the park.
Stay tuned for an announcement for when we can have the service in August.
We’ll be doing our regular Facebook Live worship-at-home service this Sunday, July 19th, 10am.
Thank you for understanding – Eric
SONG LYRICS
These are the songs sung during the worship service. Please use the lyrics so you can worship along.
SONG: THIS IS AMAZING GRACE
Whose love is mighty and so much stronger
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
And leaves us breathless in awe and wonder
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You lay down Your life
That I would be set free
Oh, Jesus, I sing for
All that You’ve done for me
Who makes the orphan a son and daughter
The King of Glory, the King of Glory
Shines like the sun in all of its brilliance
The King of Glory, the King above all kings
This is unfailing love
That You would take my place
That You would bear my cross
You lay down Your life
That I would be set free
Oh, Jesus, I sing for
All that You’ve done for me
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
Worthy is the King who conquered the grave
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
SONG: WHAT A BEAUTIFUL NAME
One With God the Lord Most High
Your hidden glory in creation
Now revealed in You our Christ
What a beautiful Name it is
Nothing compares to this
What a beautiful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
So Jesus, You brought heaven down
My sin was great, Your love was greater
What could separate us now
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
Nothing compares to this
What a wonderful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
You silenced the boast, of sin and grave
The heavens are roaring, the praise of Your glory
For You are raised to life again
Now and forever, Our God reigns
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the glory
Yours is the Name, above all names
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus Christ my King
Nothing can stand against
What a powerful Name it is
The Name of Jesus
